Max Oertz Motorkreuzer ca 1907-09

Hi everyone! Forgive me for writing in english. I do read german but I´m a little rusty writing it, so any answers can be in either language.

I own a motoryacht/motorkreuzer that I (and the staff of the Swedish Maritime Museum) strongly believe is constructed by Max Oertz, Hamburg, sometime before 1910. The boat came to sweden after the first world war and after serving in the imperial german navy, or so the rumour has it. It measures 14,25x3,00m and resembles Oertz "Stuttgart" and "Roland". The engine was placed under the riveted steel "whaledeck" in front with exhaust coming up throug a big chimney, thus resembling an older "dampfyacht", or steamyacht. The engine could have been a Daimler 2 cyl Benzinmotor of approx. 40-60 HP. Moving aft comes the bridge, then the salon with toilet and pentry and two opposing sofas with a separating table in the middle, aftdeck of app. 4 m2 with railings around.

Where, or rather who, can I send a picture of the boat to get my suspiscion of the origin confirmed? Is there a register of Oertz yachts and who they were built for (first owner)?

Very thankful for any assistance in this matter. The boat is in poor condition and has been hidden away for many many years. It might be one of the few (if any) remaining yachts of its kind and I intend to restore it to its original look.

Sincerely
Stefan Lindberg, Stockholm, Sweden

Dear Stefan Lindberg,

there are a very lot of Oertz-Yachts in the database of the Sailing Magazine "Yacht" that we scanned completely from 1904 to 1981. Please take a look at http://www.yachtsportarchiv.de/zeitschriften-engl.htm where you find a fulltext search as well as a search in the index. Searching the index for "oertz" between 1904 and 1910 gives you about 50 pages...

At http://www.yachtsportarchiv.de/kdw/oertz.html we have written a little about Oertz himself with some links.

Best Regards,
