Searching information about old German sailboat
Dear friends!
I consider buying a boat, but first I'd like to find some information about it. The owner knows nothing about it at all, and has no information about former owners. What I am told is that the boat is 33' long, and it is supposed to be built in Hamburg 1947. The hull is built in oak, the deck is made of teak and the cabin is mahogany. As you can see from the photo it is ketch-rigged.
If someone has any information about this kind of boat, who might be the constructor, or anything else about its properties, I would be very grateful. Information about how to find more information is also highly appreciated.
Best regards

Re: Searching information about old German sailboat
Hallo Arnt Magne Haugen,
are there any signs on the sides of the bow and/or the sides of the stern, from a boatyard logotype? Maybe under the varnish?
Do the older sails have any sailnumber we could take as a reference?
Which engine is in there?
What is the waterline length?
Is there a Norwegian registration with the Norwegian Sailing Federation, which can tell, when the boat came to Norway?
Kind regards,
Kaspar

Re: Searching information about old German sailboat
Hallo Kaspar.
Thank you for your answer. I haven't had the opportunity to inspect the boat yet, but when I do I will certainly look for logos or marks on both the boat and the sail. I will also try to do some measuring.
I know that there is only one functional sail today, the other sails are lost or broken. I will try to find out about the registration number though. This should be available, since the boat has been sailing until last summer.
I don't know which motor the boat had originally. I've been told that the motor today is a BUKH diesel with two cylinders and approx 25 horsepower, the original motor is said to have been smaller.
Kind regards
Arnt Magne

Hallo Arnt Magne,
With the engine serial number we might be able to search for its buyer and consequently maybe to one of the previous boat owners. When you see it, let me know.
Kind regards,
Kaspar
