A & R Lines Plans 1930

Hi,

We have a 1930 Tourenkreuzer bau no 2629, she is in a bad way and has lost her oringinal shape. Does anyone know where and how to go about getting some drawings to help put her back to her original form?

Any information will be much appreiciated.

Hi Oliver,
I do have a A&R in Restoration too and I can tell, contact the Yard, they do have a large Archive.
I got Paper Copies only, which were scanned and will be taken for 1:1 plots for moulds.
Usually a lines plan of 70 years age or more and copied minimum once will probaly not be a good working base.
It would be a good strategy to compare the dimensions of the plans (both written and drawn) and the boat.
I have to take the lines drawing as basis for new one made with CAD.

A lot of Plans were lost during the big floods in the sixties, but there are still most Plans available.
They are very friendly, helpful and it does not cost much.

Do you have an Email or contact address for the yard as i have tried them once already with no luck. It sounds like this is exactly what i need to help and as suggested i will be able to compare plans with boat.

What sort of A+R do you have?

Dear Oliver,
I do have an mail address, but this contact was not made by me, so I dont know the Person personally.
A friend of mine is working there. In the moment I cannot reach him, but may be he will be able to help.
In the meantime I would try again to contact the yard.
I'd wonder, if there would be no response, are you sure your request has reached them?

I do restore the 50sqm cruiser "Seebrise, No. 3232, build 1937, Sail No V98.
We are working a long time already and are still at the beginning, it will be a complete rebuild.
Keel, Stem fore and aft, frames, just all the structural parts must be replaced, also the interior is not existing anymore.
Planks will be 50% fine.

I have just emailed the yard again to see if they can help. I am fairly sure my last email got to them so i will see if they reply to this one. I would imagine it is a very small enquiry for such a huge yard!

I would very much appreciate any help or contacts you may have with regards to finding the suitable lines plans as she is fairly out of shape and any infomation would really help.

Looks and sounds like you have just as much work to do as we have but a larger boat! Does you're boat have any steel floors or frames? Do you plan to keep her as original as possible or will you be laminating new wooden frames etc. You're workshop looks very well setup, do you run a yard? It is great to hear of more and more of these classics being restored throughout europe.

If you do not get an answer in one week time, I will email her, if she got your email or I can give her mailaddress to you.
She told my friend everyone can ask the yard for plans and is welcome anytime, but I am not sure, if its her job or if she was just helpful to my friend.
They are very traditional orientated, the yard's 100th aniversary was a great celebration during the Laboe Classics 2007.
As I just heard, she is on holiday right now and will probably be back next week.

Yes, there are steel bands between floors are and frames, the floor at main frame is a iron angle, keel bolts, ballast and a lot of screws are iron.
Most iron bands look just like a french croissant than a strong part of iron.
Keel bolts are mostly fine, but will be replaced.
Planks are riveted with copper nails and screwed with brass.
I will laminate the frames as they probably last longer but she will look original.
I do not run a yard, I just needed to work long years in compromising conditions, now I have the shed with friends together, so there is no need anymore to make compromises.

Where do you live and what kind of boat do you restore?
